Besiktas is a municipality in Istanbul, located in the shore of the Bosphorus. It is big and includes beautiful and trendy districts such as Bebek, Arnavutkoy and Ortakoy but its center is also have a particular character with young people and locals. The market in Besiktas is really nice. Fish shops surrounded by small taverns call for you. Grand Besiktas Bazar is also there with many stores and bookshops. Here is a small set of photographs from my visit earlier in January 2013. Besiktas is nice with the black and white photography just like its famous football team.
Birds flying above, every single of them is fragile and unique.

Walking in one of the crossing streets to Istiklal in Beyoglu during a late afternoon I see a restaurant (lokanta) where the waiters eating. I took my Olympux xa and had an eye contact with the chef waiter. Following an eye contact salutation I took a photo from the window.

There is nothing beyond good weather, beautiful landscape and close friendship. The fisherman and the tallyman enjoying backgammon on a cold morning in Istanbul. They do not care about the daily struggles of a modern man. I envy them.

One of the rare expired films from my collection was Fujifilm Neopan 1600. This high-speed, ISO 1600 black-and-white film was designed for rapid auto-processing. My Olympus XA welcomed the Neopan without any expiry date information. I expect that it was way too old to bring any result. On a cold winter day in Istanbul I was photo-walking in Sariyer (northern part of the Bosphorus and in Besiktas. Sun was there but trying to hide itself. Snow clouds was around the corner. So Gray and sad Istanbul transformed to grainy images. In this collection you can find fisherman’s boats and the passenger ships (vapur).
