Why do you make photographs? I want to try documenting memories. Magical chemistry of analogue photography brings a tangible feeling to the past. In my stay at home, I was scanning some old family photographs. Photos hiding in the old pages of photo albums are fading. What about the negatives?
Here in this photo set I have recent photographs from Brussels. In December 2011 there was a major strike in the public sector. I was out for a short walk to the flea market and then to the center with my old Lubitel. This fresh memory was documented with an expired Kodak dia film and cross processed. I know it is under-exposed, pointing out to a very bad quality photography skills but I like them because you loose your reference in time.
This photo set is documenting street happenings. Nothing extraordinary except for the police riding horses. Green tones dark feeling bring the economical problems in Europe. A chaotic feeling also makes you sick when you look at the multiple exposure and the crappy scan of the negatives.

A terrible year to be forgotten is almost done. It’s time to pack my luggage, Istanbul calling.
With some numbers in 2011, I got twice freshly pressed on WordPress.com. In May with road companions and in September with textured. So this two posts entered the top 5 of my annual post stats. As I was bloggin in Turkish before, most of the search terms are still the same. People arrive to this blog by searching “flea market”. I am frequent visitor to the flea market in search for expired films, super8 movies and also toy-cameras. Actually today I made my last visit for this year and returned home with two b/w films and super8 travel movies from Italy and Spain (dated late 50′s).
This year the blog extended more readers and more comments to the posts were made. I have to mention Julia with her daily comments.
It is still early to say welcome to 2012 but just in case I will not have time in the coming days I wish you happy new year!

Today a post from university campuses in Brussels. This week the academic year started and the campus is full of students. Weather is just like summer so youngsters enjoy sun on the grass. Pictures below were taken on 1st of May with cheap camera and expired film. I remember that day, was also extremely hot.
The two photos above show a distinction with the Flemish and French speaking universities. Well in terms of architecture.
At the end you can deconstruct/reconstruct and learn at the university…

This camera was fun with the light leaks, last weekend it was stolen from my bag. Well luckily the film inside was new so I did not shoot important photos with it. I remember paying for 5 euro at the flea market in spring. Perhaps the camera is returning there…
