One of my new year resolutions was to process my own film. I done it. This was an expired B/W Orwopan 100 film that I have shot in December before Christmas with my Carena SRH1000. The film slept for a while. In November last year I got a special bag to use as a dark room to roll films to the processing tank. In January I have obtained the chemicals. So I was ready to go. And finally last weekend I give it a shot!

Results are almost terrible but ok, this is the first trial. Here I should indicate what I have used to process the B/W film.

Chemicals:

  • Ilford ID 11 as the developer
  • Amaloco s10 as the stop bath
  • And finally Ilford rapid fixer

I am using JOBO 1520 universal tank and a very good quality (American brand) dark room bag. I have to add that I got three beakers from Carrefour to measure the chemicals and also a thermometer.

I have watched many tutorials about film processing on youtube but you learn only when you do it. My biggest mistake in this first trial was to use a little bit less developer chemical and also not to shake it very proper. So this is the lesson learned. I also have to admit that I am still not very good at rolling the film to the spiral for the processing tank. There I have lost some parts of the film and put my finger prints.

Once the processing was completed I hang the film rolls dry and next day scanned them with my Epson V500. As I have not yet bought any film envelopes the film was rolled so was very difficult to place in the scanner film holders. This is a final lesson for the future.

I look forward for new adventures with the B/W white films.

paint

I am home, not back to the roots but in the place I was born, lived for 2.5 decades. Things are changing. Life is like the paint on the building. Does it matter what the new color is? I can still see the aged paint…

For the first time in years I have not brought my Lubitel or any other analogue camera with me. I will not have much time to do any photography in the next days anyway.

Another earthquake hit eastern Turkey and a hotel is demolished. I really do not get it. A quake like this should not result in such a damage. With the cold weather life is tough there for people trying to live in container houses.
